SALUD WANTS GAB TO REVIEW LAGUNA-TALAPE FIGHT RESULT

Boxing promoter Rex 'Wakee' Salud wants the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) to conduct a review on the result of the February 13 fight involving his fighter Roel Laguna and RP superbantam champ Jun Talape.
Talape had edged out Laguna via split decision, although several ringsiders believed it was the latter who should have been declared the winner.
"This is a big injustice. My boy was the one winning that fight. This should be investigated," said a fuming Juanito Ablaca, Laguna's trainer, who pointed out that boos rained upon the announcement of Talape's victory.
Salud, for his part, has asked the GAB to act immediately on his request, adding that he wants to promote an immediate bout between the two fighters.
Salud pointed out that even the television crew as well as some boxing people from Manila were aghast to hear that Laguna had lost via decision, when it was clearly a fight he won.
Even Saved by the Bell, which owns the rights to air the fight on television, has indicated that it will not air the fight for fear that it might destroy the credibility of the show.
"Grabe yung nangyari. Dapat panalo talaga si Laguna. Di namin ipalabas yung laban sa tv, kasi nakakahiya yung desisyon," said an SBB exec when asked for comment.
