JANUARY 31ST EXTRAVAGANZA FOR WBO ORIENTAL PROMOTER OF THE YEAR

PhilBoxing.com

Sammy Gello-ani's SGG Sports Promotions, which bagged the WBO Oriental Promoter of the Year, has lined up ambitious projects and sets high goals for 2009.

WBO President Franciso ?Paco? Valcarcel praised Sammy Gello-ani at the awarding ceremony during the WBO convention in Florida, USA for being so active and productive in promoting WBO regional titles, thus earning the WBO ORIENTAL PROMOTER OF THE YEAR award.

Gello-ani is not stopping there, this month alone in one huge extravaganza in coordination with Australian based, Brendon Smith of Ringstar Promotions, Michael ?The Great? Katsidis is making a come back vying for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Lightweight title against Angel Hugo Ramirez that will showcase not only one but four WBO regional championship in one program.

Katsidis was well known to Filipino fight fans when he stepped into the ring to act as the Team Captain of the Philippines during the Philippines versus Mexico Boxing World Cup last August 07, 2008 when suggested team leader Manny Pacquiao opted to pass on being there because of other commitments. Team Philippines went on to win a land slide of a margin of 5 to 1 victory over the Mexican rivalry.

Gello-ani in an upbeat conversation with Philboxing, informed that he is just warming up, words started to fly, weighty words that managed to leave his mouth float enthusiastically into the morning sky.

Young prospects Ciso ?Kid Terrible? Morales, Anthony ?Rocky? Marcial, ?Marvelous? Marvin Sonsona, whose names mimic former great champions, are what Gello-ani keying up to future world champions for Philippines.

?I am committed to these fighters and they will soon be noticed not only in the Philippines but throughout the world, this year is our year,? explained Gello-ani.

As Gello-ani expresses his big ideas while sipping a cup of coffee, he informed that ?it's all about networking, networking and connections. With the full support of US based promoter Golden Boy Promotions and International Matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz who are both instrumental to everything we do, we have been effective for all our prize fighters.?

Nevertheless, explained Gello-ani, the Asia Pacific World Boxing Organization headed by Leon Panoncillo has been a strong support to the sanctioning of these championship bouts, we are committed to revitalizing the rich boxing tradition of the Philippines. Our commitment to the organization is to try and secure featured top prize fighters defending or vying for WBO titles on a monthly basis.

Gello-ani is ecstatic that giant Philippine broadcasting network ABS-CBN and through their affiliated cable network TFC will cover the Katisidis vs Ramirez showdown on January 31st which brings the fights to a worldwide audience. This event is something to look forward to and will surely be a night to remember as Morales, Marvin, Marcial, the 3M?s or the Matadors, will showcase their boxing excellence to the world as future world champions.

Sammy Gello-ani of SGG Sports Promotions and Brendon Smith of Ringstar Promotions present 'Two Brave Warriors, One Great Battle' billed as 'THE WAR' at the Cebu Coliseum on January 31, 2009. The gate opens at 5:00pm where a night of four WBO regional championships are on the line featuring Michael ?The Great" Katsidis of Australia vying for the Vacant WBO Asia Pacific Lightweight title against Angel ?Hugo?
