LAPUT WINS WBO INTERCON TITLE

Mindanao fighter Ramie Laput outboxed a game Donriel Marcos to win the vacant WBO Intercontinental superbantam title Sunday night in Digos City.
Laput moved well all throughout, and a pricking left jab and right uppercuts kept Marcos at bay for most of the rounds.
Marcos' face was badly swollen after the fight, which was witnessed by no less than WBO vice-president Leon Panoncillo.
The win assures Laput of a higher ranking among the WBO's superbantamweight contenders, where he is currently at no. 12.
The victory also gave Laput his second regional title, having won earlier the WBO Asia Pacific crown in Cebu.
