Los Angeles, California - A week after Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, a native of the Philippine island of Mindanao, rocked the boxing world with a spectacular 9th round stoppage of Oscar dela Hoya, two more southern fighters will see action at the Alameda Swap Meet south of Los Angeles on Dec. 12.
Undefeated junior lightweight Glenn "Rapid Fire" Gonzales, 23, and bantamweight Jundy "Pretty Boy" Maraon, also 23, will go up against still unnamed opponents in the undercard of the Urbano Antillon-Ramon Juan Cruz main event featured on Mexican sports television channel Telefutura.
Also appearing in the same card is former world junior flyweight champion Brian Viloria who is going up against Mexican Benjamin Garcia.
It will be the second US fight for the 5' 7" tall Gonzales who holds a record of 7 wins, 4 KOs and 1 draw while it is the first for the 5' 6" tall Maraon who has a record of 10 wins, 8 KOs and 1 draw.
Gonzales, rated No. 6 featherweight in the Philippines, is from M'lang, North Cotabato and a cousin of Vice Governor Manny Pinol who is also his manager. He has recently moved up to the junior lightweight division.
Maraon, who is ranked No. 5 bantamweight in the Philippines, is originally from Suminot, Zamboanga del Sur who moved to North Cotabato three years ago to join the Braveheart Boxing Club of Vice Gov. Pinol.
