CONDES DRAWS INSPIRATION FROM PACQUIAO?S VICTORY By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 11 Dec 2008 ![]() Former IBF minimum weight champion Florante "Little Manny Pacquiao" says he will draw inspiration from his ring idol, Manny Pacquiao, and soon regain the world title he lost to Raul "Rayito" Garcia in Mexico last June 14. Condes won the title from Indonesia's Muhammad Rachman on July 7, 2007 before losing it in his first title defenses makes his return to the ring in a fight card in Compostela, Cebu which will be covered by Viva Sports and telecast on its top-rated weekly boxing show "The Main Event" now telecast on CS/9 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays right after Solar Sports "live" coverage of the NBA games. Condes believes that not only his spirit but those of all other Filipino boxers have been rekindled with a new fire and strong determination to succeed. Despite dropping the undefeated Garcia in the final round of their title fight with a hard right, Condes lost by a split decision due mainly to his staying on the ropes in the early rounds and inviting Garcia to come in. The knockdown scored by Condes was too little too late for him to make an impact and overcome the disadvantage of his earlier showboating. Condes has learned his lessons well and will make no such mistakes when he sees action in a fight card dubbed "Thrilla in Compostela" which is presented by well-known promoter Sammy Gello-ani with the support of GRW Promotions and sponsored by Tanduay, the No.1 Rhum. Florante Condes who parades a 22 wins (20 by knockouts) 4 losses and 1 draw will be joined by the young and exciting Marvin "Marvelous" Sonsona and Anthony "Rocky" Marcial who are both undefeated and are WBO Oriental/Aspac Champions. Sonsona?s fight last October 4 at Naga City, Cebu with Joel Rafols was awarded FIGHT OF THE Year honors for 2008 in the Asia-Pacific Region by the WBO during its annual convention in Florida last November. Promising Ronald Castrodes will defend his PBF Jr. Flyweight belt against Rodel Quilaton in one of the supporting bouts on what promises to be an exciting night of boxing.
