RUBILLAR CONFIDENT IN FIFTH ATTEMPT TO WIN WORLD TITLE
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 11 Nov 2008

Filipino southpaw Juanito Rubillar (46-10-7, 22 KO?s) says he?s confident of winning the World Boxing Council light flyweight title when he battles tough and resilient Mexican Edgar Sosa (33-5, 17 KO?s) at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City on November 29.
Dubbed ?Battle in the Capital III? the fight pits the 31 year old Filipino veteran against the very active Mexican who will be making his seventh title defense in less than one-and-a-half years.
Rubillar who is managed by Gabriel ?Bebot? Elorde Jr earned a mandatory title shot with a hard-fought win over former world champion Omar Nino in Mexico last July in a fight that WBC president Jose Sulaiman conceded Rubillar deserved to win.
Rubillar who twice fought Jorge Arce for the title and lost in somewhat controversial fashion after two rousing encounters said he was aware that Sosa had a 21-fight winning streak but indicated that doesn?t bother him. He said ?I plan to put an end to that winning streak? claiming that Sosa hadn?t fought the caliber of fighters that he has gone up against.
Rubillar said ?winning the title after trying so many times is going to make it all the sweeter.?
For his part the Mexican champion said he expects the fight to be his ?toughest challenge.?
Reports from Mexico have said that Sosa has been training extra hard, mindful of the aggressive style of Rubillar who keeps coming at his opponent, relentlessly.
Sosa is coming off a twelve round unanimous decision over another Filipino Sonny Boy Jaro who dropped the champion in the ninth round but couldn?t put him away as he boxed himself out of trouble.
Rubillar?s last fight was the title eliminator against Omar Nino which he won by a split decision last June 14.
Sosa won the vacant title with a majority decision over former champion Brian Viloria on April 14, 2007.
