'PINOY BOXING' SET TO START AMERICAN COVERAGE
PhilBoxing.com Mon, 10 Nov 2008
CALIFORNIA--Top-rating boxing program on radio "Pinoy Boxing" is set to fire off its American boxing coverage after co-anchor Edward Ligas arrived in Los Angeles yesterday and headed immediately to San Francisco en route to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Ligas was accompanied in the 13-hour flight to Los Angeles by promoter Sammy Gello-ani. The duo was picked up at the airport by LA-based Philboxing.com correspondent and orthodontist Ed de la Vega, maker of boxing champions' mouthguards.
Gello-ani and Ligas immediately proceeded to the Bay Area, where "Pinoy Boxing" co-anchor Salven Lagumbay and boxing benefactor Jun Laquindanum have already taken base.
Lagumbay and Ligas will cover and attend the WBO Convention set for Nov. 10 to 14 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Among the other notable Filipino boxing personalities set to join are ALA Boxing Promotions' Michael Aldeguer, Bong Yap of Black Scorpion Boxing Club, and Elmer Anuran of Saved by the Bell. Also joining the convention is WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo.
From Florida, the group flies to Las Vegas to join Philboxing.com's Dong Secuya for the November 22 Hatton-Malignaggi event where Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista is seeing action before they motor back to Los Angeles to cover the final stretch of Manny Pacquiao's training.
The final coverage takes place on December 6 for the 'Dream Match' involving Pacquiao and boxing's poster boy Oscar De la Hoya.
