DARCHINYAN SHOULD STAND IN THE QUEUE FOR DONAIRE

PhilBoxing.com

Los Angeles, CA: November 1st was a good day for Vic Darchinyan and Nonito Donaire. The two arch rivals both won their fights, albeit in a different fashion. Darchinyan through a devastating knock out (Mijares) and Donaire won via a TKO. (Mthalane)

Therefore, the clamor is now for a rematch.

But from what we see, its not going to happen very soon.

Not that the two fighters are un-willing to fight again.

It maybe more because Gary Shaw may not be willing to come up with the right amount of money Donaire deserves to allow a rematch to happen.

Darchinyan may now be a multi alphabet letter champion, but he was already knocked out silly by Donaire. Thus Donaire does not need to fight him immediately. He has nothing to gain from an immediate fight with Darchinyan except lots of money. So, if Darchinyan really needs to make the fight happen and redeem the lost honor and the badly mangled ego of Darchinyan, Shaw needs to ?show the money?. But will he be willing? I say not by a mile!

Shaw it appears wants to make more for himself than pay Donaire to beat his guy again. That is why he and Darchinyan are making a Pacquiao-type noise to attract Oscar de la Hoya. There is a saying that goes- ?Never say never?. But in this case, its appropriate to say such because, it isn?t going to happen! Period!

With Shaw?s previous relation with Donaire, I do not see it happening anytime soon. Besides, Shaw may not be willing to get his cash cow Darchinyan kiss the canvas again or do another chicken dance. Against Donaire, no one is sure it may not happen again.

And, if Shaw thinks Darchinyan can push around people like Rafa Marquez or Israel Vasquez, who are super bantamweights, he must be in dreamland. Ain?t nothing wrong with dreaming, but the aforementioned two, will make his Bull kiss the canvas just like Donaire did.

Darchinyan may have a better chance in getting a fight with Fernando Montiel and get a chance to own all the 115 alphabet titles. But that too, may have to wait.

From what we hear, Bob Arum and Donaire want to challenge Montiel too. In fact that may be a better fight. A Montiel-Donaire tiff maybe far better than a Donaire-Darchinyan fight in terms of fans support and PPV buys. Filipino versus Mexican translates to a better PPV than an Armenian vs. Mexican because those from the former have already an on going rivalry and those from the latter, don?t.

Should Donaire beats Montiel, then his next fight must be against Jorge Arce so he can clean up the Mexican line up of superflyweights and continue the great Filipino ?Mexican rivalry.

After that, if Shaw comes up with the money, then Darchinyan may probably get his chance for revenge. If he does not, then Donaire should move up to 118, forget Darchinyan and clean up that division too.

But granting that a Donaire-Darchinyan will finally happen (perhaps in early in 2010) I am predicting that the results will be the same. Darchinyan will suffer a loss again, all because Donaire has his number and his awkward style truly fits the great counters of Donaire.
