The “ATV” Plan is set for Undefeated Bay State Junior middleweight prospect Anthony Velazquez

PhilBoxing.com

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 30, 2025) – One down, two more fights to go for unbeaten junior middleweight Anthony “ATV” Velazquez (19-0-1, 14 KOs) until the “ATV” Plan kicks into gear.

Fighting out of Springfield, Massachusetts, the 29-year-old Valezquez is following the plan created by his manager, Gunther Fishgold, who is setting the stage for a career-changing 2026 for his talented Puerto Rican-American fighter.

The plan is for Velazquez, a promotional free agent, to fight twice in 2025—or once in January if necessary—to earn a world ranking and secure bigger fights by early 2026.

Velazquez, who has an impressive 83.33-knockout percentage, notched his 18th professional victory on July 19, when he stopped Terry Chatwood (12-5-1, 6 KOs) in the fifth round of their July 19th fight at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Velazquez broke down Chatwood, continuing to display his improved skills, and dropped him with a left uppercut (shown above) in the fifth round, finishing off his opponent later in the same round with a perfectly placed left hook to the head at the 2:26 mark.

“I felt very good, very confident in that fight,” Velazquez said. “I fought my fight, patiently breaking him down, and taking him out like I said I would. I can’t wait to get my next fight date. I’d be happy if I fought again in September; I like fighting back-to-back. The only way to get where I want to be is to stay consistent.”

Velazquez, like many confident boxers, believes he's prepared to face and beat top-ranked, title-holding opponents now. However, the "ATV" Plan remains in effect, at least for right now.

“Two more fights and I’m on it,” Velazquez remarked. “I feel I’m ready right now, but I’ll keep using my ring time to better execute, knowing I’ll be ready when it (breakout fight) comes. I trust my manager and respect his plan.

“I want to fight any of those guys in the top 10 to get more exposure from fighting in a big event. My dream is to fight at Madison Square Garden, someday soon. My fans travel well, Springfield isn’t too far from MSG, and I know that they will support me there.”

Fishgold noted that the “ATV” Plan, of course, could be altered for the right opportunity, saying: “After watching Xander Zayas win his first world title last Saturday, I believe Anthony would be a formidable opponent for Zayas in his first world title fight defense. While we are planning on waiting, this is something we definitely would go for. I believe that Anthony matches up well against Zayas’ style but, if this isn’t an option we will continue to build.”
