PACQUIAO-DE LA HOYA HISTORIC TOUR GOING GREAT

PhilBoxing.com

The historic six-city tour promoting the ?Dream Match? between Filipino ring idol and national treasure Manny Pacquiao and ?The Golden Boy? Oscar De La Hoya is going great with large crowds and a media frenzy accentuating public interest in the MGM Grand, Las Vegas showdown on December 6.

After a highly successful launch at the historic Statue of Liberty in New York and another crowded stop in Chicago where even former WBC lightweight champion David Diaz who was demolished by Pacquiao in nine rounds made an appearance, the two boxing superstars and their entourage flew to Houston, Texas for another meet-and-greet encounter.

Pacquiao?s lawyer Franklin ?Jeng? Gacal told www.insidesports.ph, Manila Standard and Viva Sports that the Space Center was the venue in Houston, providing another historic backdrop to what promises to be an exciting fight if not a classic.

Gacal said De La Hoya ended his remarks by saying that celebrated trainer Freddie Roach while working in Pacquiao?s corner will say ?Houston we have a problem.?

Gacal said that they flew immediately to San Antonio where the historic dimensions of the promotional tour were further accentuated at The Alamo where, according to Pacquiao?s trusted lawyer ?we had a rowdy crowd of Mexicans rooting for De La Hoya.? Gacal said De La Hoya ended his speech ?pointing and looking at Pacman.?

De La Hoya said ?I will knock you out on December 6. I?m telling you this because I want you to remember The Alamo.?

Pacquiao in his usual cool and unruffled manner merely smiled it off.

On Saturday (Sunday, Manila Time) Pacquiao and De La Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank?s Bob Arum take their pre-fight act to San Francisco for a press conference and public rally where Pacquiao supporters are expected to give him a rousing welcome.

The event will be staged at Great Meadow at Upper Fort Mason. Gacal informed www.insidesports.ph a short while ago that Team Pacquiao had already arrived in San Francisco.
