DON JOSE SAYS SOSA-JARO SHOULD BE A GOOD FIGHT
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 23 Sep 2008

World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman says the title clash between Mexico?s world light flyweight champion Edgar Sosa and OPBF champion Sonny Boy Jaro of the Philippines ?should be a good fight.?
The title fight takes place in Mexico City on Sunday (Manila Time).
Sulaiman told www.insidesports.ph, Manila Standard and Viva Sports by overseas telephone from his home in Mexico City that Jaro arrived in Mexico saying that ?he came to win by knockout and that he is going to take back the title to the Philippines.
Sulaiman said Jaro who is managed by former boxer and trainer Aljoe Jaro was ?very firm in his statement.? Sulaiman said he believes that Jaro is strong and a good counter-punched but added that Sosa is ?a great fighter."
In the required weigh-in one week before the scheduled title fight Sosa weighed in at 112.4 pounds which was 4.4 pounds over the 108 pound limit while Jaro was nearer the required weight, coming in at 110.2 pounds which was a mere 2.2 pounds over the light flyweight limit.
There was a large crowd at the weigh-in after which Sosa who has a record of 32-5 with 17 knockouts went two rounds with Ali ?Pinky? Mayorga and looked good.
Jaro who has a record of 28-6-5 with 17 knockouts also sparred two rounds against Carlos ?Carnes? Rosales.
Jaro reportedly nailed Rosales with a cracking left hook to the liver and served notice of his intentions in winning the title and giving the Philippines its fifth world title to make up for the loss of the IBF minimum weight title by Florante Condes to Raul ?Rayito? Garcia in a disappointing performance marred by unnecessary show-boating in the first half of his title fight which cost him the decision.
International matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz and well-known promoter Sammy Gello-ani who helped in arranging the title fight for Condes were both upset by his performance and said he lost a good chance of retaining his title by his tactics in the first five rounds.
