EX-VORAPIN TRAINER TO JOIN DOMINGO'S CORNER? PhilBoxing.com Tue, 09 Sep 2008 Count this as an early win for Michael Domingo over ex-world champ Ratanachai Sor Vorapin. Ahead of their 12-round clash on Sunday, a former trainer for Ratanachai Sor Vorapin has indicated that he might join the corner of ALA fighter Michael Domingo and will share some secrets for the Filipino fighter to use against ex-WBO bantam king Vorapin. Domingo will clash with Vorapin this Sunday in the 12-round main event of the "Daytime Boxing: Philippines vs Thailand" at the New Cebu Coliseum. The fight card will also include former WBA superbantam champ Somsak Kokietgym facing Filipino Joel De la Cruz. "I am ready to help Domingo's corner, should they need me. I know the weakness of Vorapin, and I know his strengths. I plan to fly to Cebu to help Domingo defeat Vorapin," said the former Bangkok-based trainer. Vorapin and his team are slated to fly in on Thursday evening, and will immediately proceed to the Cebu Grand Hotel, the official hotel of the event. The rest of the card includes: Rey Labao vs Amor Tino; Marvin Sonsona vs Edwin Tumbaga; Julius Alcos against Nelson Llanos; and female fighter Geremie Tabastabas against Thailand's lady fighter Usanakorn Kokietgym. Fight tickets are now available at the Cebu Coliseum ticket outlet, and fans are advised to get them this early to avoid last-minute rush. "Daytime Boxing: Philippine versus Thailand" is presented by SGG Sports Promotions, Kokiet Group of Thailand, City Government of Cebu, Sunriser Motorcycles, Viva Sports, Tanduay, Omega Boxing Gym, and Cebu Grand Hotel, the official hotel. Promoter Sammy Gello-ani also informed that the final press conference for the fight will be held on Friday, 3PM at the Cebu Grand Hotel, while the official weigh-in takes place on Saturday 9AM also at the Cebu Grand.  |
