IAN MAULEON FIGHTS ANEW ON SEPT. 19th By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sat, 06 Sep 2008 Woodland Hills, CA: Ian Mauleon, the young Fil-Am rookie from Oakland who now calls Los Angeles his home will be fighting again on Friday, September 19th. Mauleon will be one of the up and coming fighters to be featured by boxer turned promoter Kahren Harutyunyan, the CEO of Art of Boxing Promotions of Glendale, California. Harutyunyan is a former NABO Junior bantamweight champion. He is best remembered by Filipinos for the fierce fight he gave present day IBO Flyweight champion, Nonito Donaire, Jr. Donaire won via a split decision. The fight on September 19th will be Mauleon?s second foray in the sweet science. Last May 23rd Mauleon fought his first professional fight at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, California. He fought Thomas Rittenbaugh, a fighter who with 4 fights under his belt, was relatively more experienced than him. Mauleon fought a very gallant fight but all his efforts were for naught. He succumbed to his more experienced opponent, losing by a unanimous decision over 4 rounds. The result of his first fight was of course a big disappointment for Mauleon. However, it opened his eyes to the true nature of the fight business. It made him more vividly aware that losing is part of game. It is just a stumbling block on the road to success. With that, he vowed to continue. With the support of friends and family, Mauleon returned to the gym and continued to train hard hoping and praying to land a fight again. And, he did. On September 19th, Mauleon will be fighting Roger Holloway at the Marriot Hotel in Woodland Hills, California. The Mauleon-Holloway fight is one of the undercards of Art of Boxing Promotions fight card aptly called ?Warner Center War II?. The fight card will feature up-and-coming fighters such as Freddie Roach? Dean Byrne, as well as Vacho Avagyan, Garo Tolmadjyan, Mark Skyzer, Rashad Holloway,Vito Gasparian and Art Hovhannesyan. Special guests expected to be at the fight includes Fil-Am Brian Viloria, Victor Ortiz, Vanes Martirosyan and Freddie Roach. Tickets are available by phone orders ( 818.749.1571), online (artofboxing.com) and at the Marriot Hotel, Warner Center.
