GORRES-POSUWAN ELIMINATOR TO PURSE BID
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 02 Sep 2008

The IBF super flyweight title eliminator between No. 3 ranked Z ?The Dream? Gorres and Thailand?s No. 6 ranked Pramunsak ?Machine Gun? Posuwan will go to a purse bid.
That?s the word from the IBF which effectively is making Gorres fight his second title eliminator having earlier figured in a controversial draw with Vic Darchinyan who was given a shot at then champion Dimitri Kirilov and won the title.
Instead of giving Gorres, who didn?t lose to Darchinyan, a title shot, the IBF wants him to fight Posuwan the 39 year old Thai who dropped a fairly close unanimous twelve round decision to WBO champion Fernando Montiel on October 29, 2005.
Posuwan has a record of 43-1-1 with 23 knockouts while the stylish southpaw Gorres has a record of 28-2-2 with 15 knockouts.
The deadline set by the IBF for the purse bid is September 9 but whether the handlers of Gorres headed by young Michael Aldeguer will make an offer is not certain since Gorres has also been lined up for a far more rewarding rematch with WBO champion Fernando Montiel in Macau this December.
Besides, the IBF has made it clear that even if Gorres wins the fight he will have to wait nine months before getting a mandatory shot at Darchinyan.
