DONAIRE WILL NOT RELINQUISH TITLE, WILL FIGHT MTHALANE ANYWHERE
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sat, 16 Aug 2008

Los Angeles, CA:- Team Donaire called today to let it be known emphatically that Nonito Donaire Jr the reigning IBF Flyweight champion has no plans whatsoever to give up his title.
?Jun-Jun and the rest of the Team worked so hard to win the title and we are not about to give it up and seek titles in the heavier weight class?, said Nonito Sr., the father and trainer of the champ. ?We may fight as super flyweight, but we are keeping the flyweight title we have right now. They have to beat us to get the title from us?, he continued.
The senior Donaire also indicated that he has not heard from anyone regarding the supposed deadline (which was August 14th) imposed on Top Rank and Branco Milenkovic to reach an agreement that would allow Donaire to defend against mandatory challenger Moruti Mthalane.
?No one contacted us and we are still waiting. But in the event the fight comes to a purse bid and Milenkovic wins and brings the fight to South Africa, we are willing to face Mthalane over there. We will fight Mthalane anywhere.?
Donaire is reacting to what he said where reports that his son is giving up the crown to campaign in the higher weight class opening the door for Milenkovic to pick an easier opponent for his ward, thus giving Mthalane a better shot at getting a title. ?If he wants the IBF flyweight title, he has to win it from us?, said the senior Donaire said.
