HOLT and TORRES: - PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM! By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Mon, 07 Jul 2008 Los Angeles, CA:- In the movie Casablanca, the great Ingrid Bergman asked Sam, the piano player to play the song ?As time goes by? one more time, ?Play it once, Sam for old time sake.? With apologies to the folks that produced and acted on ?Casablanca?, I say to Bob Arum:- Play is again. Please play it again, Bob. Of course I am not referring to any song. I am asking Uncle Bob to do the Randall Holt-Ricardo Torres fight one more time. I understand that there is no re-match clause, but with Uncle Bob, a master promoter, nothing is impossible. In my not too long stint covering boxing matches, I have seen many knock-outs. The two most noteworthy first round KO?s that I have seen in the recent past were the knock-outs administered by Daniel Ponce de Leon on Boom Boom Bautista and the Thai fighter named Lookmongyangtoy. Those knock-outs were sensational, but they do not come close to the one that happened between Holt and Torres. And, at the risk of alienating my fellow Pacquiao supporters, I say the Holt KO on Torres is just a tad more incredible than the one Pacquiao administered on David Diaz. At least no one expected it to come the way it did. For Holt to come back in so short a time after absorbing two knockdowns himself is just astounding! It was one of the greatest hits I have ever seen in the lower weight class, to say the least. With that, I feel a rematch is justified. And, I am sure not too many of the people that saw the fight live at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas or via ShoBox will disagree with me. So how about it, Uncle Bob, what about a Holt-Torres re-match?
