RED OWL BOXING’S “BOXFEST XVI” COMES TO COMMERCE CASINO FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, LIVE ON DAZN

PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES (Sept. 26, 2025) – Red Owl Boxing is set to deliver another night of high-stakes action and defining moments when it presents Boxfest XVI at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles on Friday, October 10, headlined by an undefeated rising contender in a pivotal crossroads clash. The action-packed card will stream live worldwide on DAZN.

“Red Owl Boxing is proud to bring another stacked event to our fans, this time from Los Angeles,” said Gabriel Fanous, President of Red Owl Boxing. “From undefeated prospects seeking their crowning moment, to international veterans hoping to re-stake their claim to the top of boxing’s food chain, to amateur standouts ready to make their debut in the professional ranks, October 10 promises to be a night of incredible action from start to finish.”

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Red Owl Boxing to bring Boxfest XVI to Commerce Casino where Bash Boxing has promoted some of Southern California’s largest boxing and MMA events over the past five years,” said Steve Bash, co-promoter and founder of Bash Boxing. “This card represents everything fans want to see – competitive 50/50 fights, new stars making their mark, and seasoned veterans proving they still belong on the big stage. Los Angeles fight fans won’t want to miss the unique, career-defining brand of a Red Owl Boxing show.”

In the main event “Crowning” portion of Boxfest XVI, Deonte “Lay Em Down” Brown (16-0, 11 KOs) of Morgan City, Louisiana, puts his unblemished record on the line in a ten-round, WBA Continental Americas Super Featherweight title fight against Venezuelan power puncher Grimardi Machuca (17-2, 14 KOs). Brown, trained by Chelo Betancourt in New York and known for his explosive knockouts, looks to extend his perfect record against Machuca, a dangerous veteran who has dropped world-level opponents and is eager to spoil Brown’s momentum.

In the co-main event “Redemption” bout of the evening, Saul “The Beast” Sanchez (21-4, 12 KOs) of Encino, Calif., looks to even the score against Puerto Rico’s Edwin Rodriguez (12-9-2, 5 KOs, who defeated Sanchez in 2019. Known for his aggressive style and fan-friendly fights, Sanchez has built a reputation as one of Southern California’s most exciting bantamweights and is eager to make a statement in his comeback after nearly a year out of the ring. Standing in his way is Rodriguez, a 13-year veteran who has faced a deep roster of tough opposition throughout his career. Rodriguez enters the bout hungry to pull off an upset and derail Sanchez’s path back toward title contention in their scheduled eight-round bantamweight clash.

Another highlight of the card will be the professional debut of 2020 U.S. Olympian Rashida Ellis, who steps into the ring as the highlighted “Debut” of Boxfest XVI after an impressive run in the Team Combat League, where she won every round she fought. Ellis, from Lynn, Massachusetts, will face her toughest test yet right out of the gate when she takes on seasoned Mexican veteran Maria “Polverita” Salinas (27-12-6, 7 KOs).A four-time world title challenger, Salinas has shared the ring with some of the sport’s elite and brings a wealth of experience into the six-round women’s featherweight contest.

Tickets for the event are on sale now at RedOwlBoxing.com.
