Rimar Metuda Bows to Kuntae Lee in Japan
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 06 Jul 2025

In a battle of southpaws, Filipino Rimar Metuda (17-10-1, 11 KOs) suffered a defeat by points at the hands of undefeated Japanese Super Lightweight National Champion Kuntae Lee (10-0-1, 2 KOs) in the main event held on Saturday, July 5, at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The much taller Lee utilized his reach advantage to outbox Metuda from a safe distance, landing precise right jabs and straight lefts from the opening bell.
As the fight progressed, Lee's dominance became increasingly evident, particularly in the 8th and 10th rounds, where he unleashed flurries of consecutive punches in pursuit of the knockout. But the Camiguin warrior fought back hard.
Even though Metuda's resilience and bravery allowed him to mount impressive rallies, Lee's superior speed and boxing skills ultimately won the day.
The judges' scorecards reflected Lee's dominance, with scores of 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92.
Despite the setback, Metuda excites fans in Japan, earning praise for his toughness and determination against a skilled, big opponent.
The 10-rounder non-title clash in The Land of the Riding Sun was promoted by veteran Hall of Fame Promoter Akihiko Honda, head of Teiken Promotions.
Kudos to Lion Heart Rimar Metuda for his toughness and determination. Your bravery inspires us all, and we are proud of you. 🇵🇭 👍 🥊
