HALL OF FAME FIGHT NIGHT FIGHT WEEK NEWS AND NOTES

PhilBoxing.com

VERONA, N.Y. (JUNE 3, 2025) – Salita Promotions will present an electrifying night of fights on Friday, June 6, at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, NY, as part of International Boxing Hall of Fame Induction Weekend. This highly anticipated event, titled "Hall of Fame Fight Night," will be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN and is promoted in collaboration with ALL THE SMOKE FIGHT, the dynamic digital content platform led by boxing legend Andre Ward.

SALITA PROMOTIONS ADDS PROMISING FORCE IN THE HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Recently signed to Salita Promotions, Flint, Mich., native Sardius Simmons is a surging heavyweight boxer with an extraordinary amateur pedigree, boasting 257 bouts and two National Golden Gloves titles (2016, 2025), along with a National PAL championship in 2014. A product of the storied Burston Fieldhouse—where Claressa Shields began her boxing journey—Simmons trained under Flint legends Jason Crutchfield and Ed Kendall and now works with renowned coach Jessy Addison. After undergoing two rotator cuff surgeries in 2017, Simmons stepped away from the ring for four years. The tragic loss of his brother and nephew to violence in Flint reignited his passion and purpose, driving a powerful return to the sport with deeper resolve than ever before.

SALITA PROMOTIONS CONTINUES TO BOLSTER TALENTED ROSTER

Salita Promotions has announced the signings of two top-10 ranked fighters in the women’s middleweight division – Iowa’s Olivia Curry (7-2, 2 KOs) and Australia’s Kaye Scott (4-1). These high-level signings follow a successful six months of new signings for Salita Promotions including Michele Rivera, Brandon Moore, Franchon Crews-Dezurn, Che Kneelley, Lani Daniels, Carolyn Veyre, Ashleyann Lozada, and Pryce Taylor.

HEAVYWEIGHTS TAKE CENTER STAGE

Friday’s fight card at Turning Stone Resort Casino is headlined by USBA American heavyweight titlist Brandon Moore (17-1, 10 KOs), who will square off against the undefeated and dangerous Stanley Wright (14-0, 11 KOs). Moore is entering the fight after a victory over previously undefeated Skylar Lacy, while Wright is coming off a major upset victory over previously undefeated heavyweight standout Jeremiah Milton. This clash pits two of the best rising American heavyweights, both eager to carve their names into boxing history.

Moore, a standout from Florida and the 2019 Golden Gloves Champion, showcased his dominance in his last bout, which ended in a disqualification win. Meanwhile, Charlotte’s Wright, fresh off his stunning upset, is poised to seize the moment and challenge Moore’s momentum in this important American heavyweight showdown.

WBC PRESENTS JUNETEENTH BELT

On June 6, boxing history will once again intersect with cultural legacy as Unified Super Middleweight World Champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn (9-2, 2 KOs) puts her titles on the line against rising star and 2024 Mexican Olympian Citlalli Ortiz (4-1, 1 KO). The fighters in this marquee matchup received added incentive last week when the WBC announced the commemorative Juneteenth Freedom Belt. Created in 2021, the WBC Juneteenth Belt represents more than championship status—it symbolizes the enduring fight for equality, justice, and recognition of African American resilience. The WBC stated that this bout serves not only as a high-stakes clash between two elite athletes but also as a tribute to the legacy of freedom and the ongoing pursuit of human rights. Crews-Dezurn, known as “The Heavy Hitting Diva,” reclaimed her WBC crown in December 2023 by defeating Shadasia Green in a gritty performance that reaffirmed her place among boxing’s elite. Ortiz, a decorated amateur and Olympic competitor, enters the ring hungry to make her mark, coming off a dominant win against Jordanne Garcia. This compelling matchup of experience versus rising talent is more than a title fight—it's a celebration of heritage, empowerment, and the global evolution of women’s boxing.

CLARESSA SHIELDS HONORED WITH BET AWARDS NOMINATION FOR THE 2025 SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR

Two-time Olympic gold medalist and reigning Undisputed Women’s Heavyweight World Champion Claressa Shields has been nominated for the 2025 BET Award for Sportswoman of the Year, marking the first time a female boxer has received the nomination. Shields joins a prestigious group of nominees, including Simone Biles, Coco Gauff, Sha’Carri Richardson, and A’ja Wilson. The BET Awards presentation takes place Monday, June 9 in Los Angeles.
