RING EDITOR PREDICTS A PUNCH-OUT By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 25 Jun 2008 ![]() Respected Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Ring Magazine, Nigel Collins, predicts a very exciting fight and a "punch-out" when Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao battles David Diaz for the lightweight title at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Sunday, Manila Time. Collins was guest on Viva Sports "Main Event' TV boxing show analyst Dennis Principe?s ?Sports Chat? show over dzSR Sports Radio. Collins said Diaz is ?easy to hit, Manny likes to punch. Diaz is a naturally bigger man with a lot of endurance and a lot of strength so the old clich? that styles make fights I think will apply here.? Collins said we have two fighters who ?like to mix it up, like to trade punches.? He noted that Diaz had a ?porous defense? and predicted that Pacquiao and Diaz would be there ?slugging it out for twelve rounds.? He said that because of the styles of both Pacquiao and Diaz ?we have a great potential to have a very exciting fight with lots of blows exchanged and I wouldn?t be at all surprised to see some cuts and some knockdowns. I will be very surprised if it was a boxing match. I think its going to be a punch-out.? Collins noted that Diaz has some advantages in terms of "his size and the fact that he?s been used to fighting bigger guys" while Pacquiao?s advantages are " his speed and better boxing skills." While agreeing with the odds-makers choice of Pacquiao as favorite, Collins noted that Diaz has ?the kind of style, the kind of heart and durability to make it the kind of fight that?s going to have the fans on the edge of their seats if not standing up through most of it.?
