Undefeated Kansas Middleweight Prospect Marco “El Tiburon” Romero finished 2025 with 7th triumphs, all by knockout, & 11-0 record

PhilBoxing.com

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (January 7, 2025) – Undefeated Kansas middleweight prospect Marco “El Tiburon” Romero (11-0, 10 KOs) closed 2025 with his seventh victory of the year, all ending in knockouts, back on December 13 in Topeka, Kansas.

Romero, 20, fought in Topeka for the second time in 2025 on the “Rumble in Title Town – A Night of Champions in the Capital City” card, presented by John Cantrell, in front of a packed house. The impressive prospect from Olathe (KS), who was a 23-time national amateur champion, put super middleweight Martez McGregor (9-10, 7 KOs) to sleep with an explosive 3-punch combination at the 2:09 mark of the opening round.

As is his custom, Romero hurt his opponent with a body shot, rapidly followed by a strong right, and he closed the show with a right uppercut as McGregor was going down to the canvas.

“2025 was all about me progressing in each and every fight,” Romero said. “My maturation, speed and power have all improved in a relatively short time, and this is only the beginning. I will continue being focused and dedicated. In 2026, I hope to get tougher opponents, and everyone will see what I really am. I’m looking forward to it.

“When Coach John (Brown) told me there was an opportunity to fight again in Topeka, I said to take any fight opportunities close to home, because I’m not sure how many more fights I’ll have in Kansas. It’s so exciting fighting in Topeka with family, friends and local fans supporting me. I couldn’t be more grateful. It’s always an amazing experience.”

Romero’s head trainer and manager, John Brown, couldn’t be more excited about the way 2025 ended, as well as Marco’s tremendous potential to pop internationally in 2026.

“2025 was a great developmental year for Marco with seven wins under his belt, one fulfilling his dream of fighting in KC so that his fans could share in his success,” Brown commented. “2026 will begin with Marco soon to sign a contract with one of the World’s best promotional companies that will insure his attainment of 4-6 bouts this year against progressively stronger opponents. His progress will continue with both his skill development and also his strength and conditioning so that he will be properly prepared for all the opportunities coming his way this new year.”

During his 18-month professional boxing career, not only is he 11-0 with 10 knockouts, but he’s also won each of the 20 rounds he’s fought to date.

2026 is set to be “The Year of the Shark” (El Tiburon) for Marco Romero, one of the most prolific prospects in boxing.
