IT WAS big upset as Reymart “Assassin” Gaballo lost by a first round technical knockout to Kebun Torres of Mexico tonight, Friday, May 10 at Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City.
The 27-year-old Gaballo first tasted the canvas from a left by Torres. Gaballo of General Santos City, immediately stood up only to be sent back on the canvas by another left by Torres.
Gaballo’s knees were still shaky when he was standing. The 36-year-old Torres again threw a combination to finally put Gaballo down for good.
Torres improved his record to 14 wins with 10 knockouts and five loses while Gaballo suffered only his third loss against 27 wins.
Meanwhile, former IBF and WBA world champion Marlon “Nightmare” Tapales stopped Nattapong Jankaew of Thailand in the 1st round to win the vacant WBC Asian Continental super bantamweight title in the main event.
The 32-year-old Tapales first hit Jankaew with a powerful left to knockdown the Thai.
He again sent down Jankaew with another left near the ropes to force the referee to stop the fight.
The boxing event was promoted by Brendan Gibbons [Viva Promotions], Sean Gibbons [Knuckleheads Boxing Promotions], Jim Claude Manangquil [Sanman Promotions] and Manny Pacquiao [MP Promotions].
