Padao-Lim tandem rules Araw netfest

PALARONG Pambansa gold medalist Andrei Padao of Digos City and PNG mixed doubles gold winner Isaac Christian Lim of Toril combined smoothly to rule the open men’s doubles of the Araw ng Dabaw Tennis Championship held at the Toril Tennis Club.
They defeated the tandem of John Michael Mesa and Warren Andrescio, 8-3.
“They always advance by two points until it was finished. They are hard players,” said tournament director Juanito “Titong” Cansino.
Padao and Lim also dominated the boy’s 25 years old with a final victory over Christian Fel Lopez and Elwin Centillas, 8-4.
Padao and Lim also won last year’s tournament.
Meanwhile, top seeds Socorro Trumpeta of Tagum and Yonee Lei Mainar of Bansalan crushed Kyla Cabanas and Juliane Mario Gonoz, 8-3 in the women’s open.
Trumpeta and Mainar also emerged champion in last year’s Araw ng Dabaw.
Lilette Licyayo and Ma. Chere Buyanye, on the other hand, ruled the women’s 40 above doubles with a victory over Christy Riogelon and Liza Ballarta, 8-5.

Men’s 35 above – Warren Andrescio and John Michael Mesa shaded Romeo Paradero and Jorlan Cabanes, 8-3.
Men’s 45 above - Edgar Quinones and Renato dela Cruz defeated Russel Hudabal and Jorlan Cabanes, 8-6.
Mem’s 50 above Singles – Edgar Quinones defeated Arnold Sarabia, 8-7 (3).
A total cash prize of P50,000 plus medals were awarded by the Aktibo Dabawenyo.
