Rilloraza, Reyes snatch AQ Prime 2nd FIDE Standard chess crowns By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Thu, 24 Aug 2023 PASIG CITY--- Istraelito Rilloraza of Las Piñas City and Chester Neil Reyes of Rodriguez, Rizal ruled last Monday’s AQ Prime 2nd FIDE Standard chess crowns held at the Robinsons Metro East, Marcos Highway, Pasig City. Rilloraza topped the 2000 - 2399 Ratings limit category while Reyes dominated the 1999 Below Ratings division. Rilloraza finished the 7-round Swiss system competition with 5.0 points on account of four wins, two draws and one loss. Rilloraza bested Alexis Emil Maribao of Caloocan City, defending champion Fide Master Christian Mark Daluz of Sorsogon and International Master Barlo Nadera of Mandaue City who finished second, third and fourth with similar 5.0 points each. Woman International Master Marie Antoinette San Diego of Dasmariñas City, Cavite, Fide Master Noel Dela Cruz of Makati City and Romulo Curioso of Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija finished fifth to seventh, respectively with identical 4.5 points apiece. Rounding out the top 10 are eight National Master Dale Bernardo of Angeles City, Pampanga (4.0 points), ninth Luffe Magdalaga of Antipolo City, Rizal (4.0 points) and tenth Fide Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca of Dasmariñas City, Cavite (3.5 points). Also with 3.5 points are 11th placer Woman Grandmaster Janelle Mae Frayna of Albay Province and 12th placer International Master Angelo Abundo Young of Tondo, Manila. Meanwhile, Reyes ruled the seven-round Swiss system standard competition, 1999 Below Ratings category with 6.5 points. His brother Mark Gerald Reyes finished second place with 6.5 points. Chester Neil and Mark Gerald ’s final ranking were based on their total accumulated tie-break points. Christopher Khalil Kis-Ing of Dasmariñas City, Cavite, National Master Jasper Faeldonia of Odiongan Romblon, Remark Bartolome of Caloocan City and Joseph Lawrence Rivera of Rodriguez, Rizal settled for third to sixth place with 6.0 points. Rounding out the top 10 who got 5.5 points each are seventh National Master Jeremy Marticio of Cabuyao City, Laguna, eight John Kenneth Gelua of Pasig City, ninth Cyrus Vladimir Francisco of Pasig City and tenth Jack Arroyo of Marikina City. Atty Aldwin Alegre, CEO of AQ Prime Entertainment, expressed his satisfaction with the event's success and the level of competition witnessed.
