By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Wed, 01 Mar 2023
 Ligas.
REIGNING Philippine flyweight champion Bienvenido “Sniper Ben Fairtex” Ligas of Caloocan City will defend his title against former title holder Genisis “Cobra” Libranza of Bayugan, Agusan del Sur on March 30 at the Balon Bayambang Events Center in Bayambang, Pangasinan.
It will be the second time that Ligas will defend his title.
Ligas scored a unanimous decision win against Roland Jay Biendima of General Santos City to retain his title last March 12, 2022 at Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.
But after retaining his crown, Ligas then lost to Olimion Nazarov of Uzbekistan by a unanimous decision for the WBO Oriental flyweight title last July 30 in Vietnam.
The 24-year-old Ligas currently has 14 wins, three loses and two draws with nine knockouts.
The 5-foot-7 Ligas is taller by two inches against Libranza.
Libranza, who has 20 wins and one loss with 12 knockouts, only lost his RP title when he failed to defend it due to his campaign in the United States.
But he is back to reclaim it.
The boxing event billed as “Kamao ng Bayambangueno” is brought by the Municipality of Bayambang and Elorde UKC Promotions headed by Cucuy Elorde.
Edmundo Dellosa is the matchmaker.
