Out of Court Settlement Agreement Affirms Morris East is Still Casimero's Manager By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Fri, 12 Feb 2021  East (R) and Casimero doing the mitts. Former world champion and now US based boxing manager and trainer Morris East has resolved the legal dispute between him and Johnriel Casimero and other parties, and will remain in the role as Casimero's manager until February 2022. The resolution was agreed upon and resorted to by the two parties in lieu of the lawsuit filed by East in the Clark County Court in Las Vegas for breach of contract against Casimero and legal damage and interference claims involving Sean Gibbons and MP Promotions owned by world champion, Senator Manny Pacquiao and a few others. The lawsuit stemmed from Casimero's alleged non-compliance of an Exclusive Worldwide Boxing Management contract between East and Casimero on February 8, 2018, which granted managerial control and commissions to East for fights entered into by Casimero. The parties released a joint statement regarding their resolution of the legal dispute: "Morris East, John Riel Casimero and Sean Gibbons are pleased to report that they have amicably resolved their disputes. Mr. East will remain Mr. Casimero's manager and the parties look forward to working together in a harmonious and mutual relationship." East is a former boxing champion from the Philippines who now works as a licensed boxing manager based in Las Vegas. Until further notice, East will continue in his role as Casimero's manager in cooperation with Casimero. East said of Casimero: "John Riel is an exceptionally talented boxer who is carrying on a tradition of great Filipino fighters. His skillset and potential was apparent to me when I initially agreed to start managing him, and I am proud to continue supporting him in this role." On his part, Casimero also complimented East: "Morris East is the youngest world champion boxer in Filipino history. I look forward to putting our differences behind us and continuing to work with him." East’s past efforts in helping and handling Filipino fighters who wanted to make it big in the US have been a mix of few success, notably his training Nonito Donaire--- and mostly heartaches which he merely shook off and charged to experience.
