THREE ALI TROPHY CHAMPIONS ON TALKSPORT’S TOP 10 POUND-FOR-POUND LIST

PhilBoxing.com

WBSS superstars Josh Taylor, Naoya Inoue and Aleksandr Usyk all made it to the world’s biggest sports radio station’s pound-for-pound list.

It is no secret that the Muhammad Ali Trophy paves the way for superstardom and pound-for-pound prestige. And on talkSPORT’s latest list Season I champ Aleksandr Usyk and two Season II winners of ‘The Greatest Prize in Boxing’ can be found among the ten best boxers across all weight classes.

At No 9 super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor:

Josh Taylor conquered the World Boxing Super Series super-lightweight tournament in spectacular fashion. The unified WBA & IBF champion beat two top titlists in Ivan Baranchyk and Regis Prograis to also claim the Ring Magazine belt.

At No 4 bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue:

Japanese three-weight world champion Naoya Inoue has already blasted through the light-flyweight and super-flyweight ranks and is now a unified king at bantamweight. In his last fight, the 26-year-old conquered the World Boxing Super Series tournament in the 2019 ‘Fight of the Year’ with Nonito Donaire.

Season 1 cruiserweight champion Aleksandr Usyk is No 5 on the list:

Oleksandr Usyk cleaned out his entire division, becoming undisputed cruiserweight champion in 16 fights. The Ukrainian came through all of his biggest tests in his opponents’ hometowns, traveling to beat the likes of Mairis Briedis in Latvia, Murat Gassiev in Russia and Tony Bellew in the UK. He’s now looking to repeat the feat at heavyweight.

The final will be broadcast live on DAZN in the U.S. and Sky Sports in the UK.
