BORNEA DECISIONS DELGADILLO TO CAPTURE NABF BELT

Undefeated Filipino superflyweight prospect Jade Bornea (now W15 KO10 L0 D0) escaped with a split decision win over previously undefeated Mexican Ernesto Delgadillo (now W11 KO2 L1 D2) thus taking home the NABF Super Flyweight Title. The two judges scored it 96-93 for the Filipino while one had it 93-96 for the Mexican. The fight headlined the UFC fightpass event on January 30 in Legends Casino and Hotel in Toppenish, Washington. The event was promoted by former pound for pound king Roy Jones, Jr. In association with Sanman Promotions
Bornea’s manager Jim Claude Manangquil was impressed with his ward’s performance. “The fight was a competitive battle between two young undefeated fighters but Bornea was the better warrior technically and in being aggressive. It shouldn’t have been a split decision but we always respect the judges. Jade was prepared and he delivered,” the Sanman Boxing CEO stated.
For Bornea, it was a good performance but he knew he can do better. “I need to improve my game. It was a nice win but there is still a lot of room to be better. I will keep on working hard in the gym and be more prepared in my next fight. I am happy to take home the belt. I am hoping for bigger fights next time,” Bornea said.
