WILDER KNOCKS OUT ORTIZ IN 7TH ROUND
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Sun, 24 Nov 2019
 Wilder drops Ortiz.
The bronze bomber Deontay Wilder waited for the perfect second and it came at 2:51 of round seven when he unleashed a straight right at Luis Ortiz that landed flush on the right cheek sending the Cuban to the canvas dazed for the full count as Wilder retained his WBC heavyweight title by spectacular fashion in his rematch with Ortiz at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).
Wilder took his time, not forcing the issue, as the lefty Ortiz who with great boxing skills, seemed to pile up points as the rounds progressed by landing his straight left and and right hooks.
But one punch -- only one punch -- is all Wilder needs to end the contest. The Bronze Bomber thus registered his 41st stoppage victory in 42 fights. The only blot in his record was the draw he got from Tyson Fury in one of the best classic fights of the modern heavyweight history.
"I had to play around... I had to put him in places. I had to go in. I had to go out," Wilder said after the fight and it paid off as he put Ortiz, probably gaining confidence by the 7th round, in that exact place where he unleashed his killer right hand.
Wilder also revealed that fight Tyson Fury again in a rematch by February next year.
