Weights for Elorde's Night of Champions: Omagao vs Sugita at 122 for WBA Asia Belt; Medura vs Nakagawa Ready to Rumble

PhilBoxing.com

Omayao and Sugita.

Fighters successfully made weight for Bebot Elorde's Night of Champions XVIII, the exciting 15-fight pro boxing event set fire up the stage today Saturday, August 3, at the Elorde Sports Complex in Sucat, Para?aque, Metro Manila.

In the main event, Filipino Crison "Cowboy" Omayao (24-19-5, 8 KO's) of Bukidnon and tough samurai warrior Daisuke Sugita (杉田大祐) of Tokyo, Japan, made identical weight of 122 pounds ahead of their battle for the vacant WBA ASIA SOUTH Super Bantamweight belt and a bay in the 122-pound world rankings.

Will the more experienced 26-year-old Filipino successfully counter-attack the furious offensive of the strong Daisuke Sugita (4-1, 3 KO's), bombing the Japanese hard down to the canvas? Or will it be the visiting Sugita -- a police officer in the Tokyo Police Department -- the one to brutalize the Filipino, rocking him mercilessly?

Daisuke Sugita.

During his amateur years, Sugita fought more than 400 times, becoming a two-division Japanese Amateur National Champion at bantamweight and lightweights. You have to be there to witness this battle. Entrance is free.

Nakagawa and Medura.

In the co-feature, Zamboangue?o slugger Alvin Medura (8-4, 7 KO's) and the more accomplished Japanese Mugicha Nakagawa 武田勇太 (24-6-2, 14 ko'S) of Tokyo both made 122 lbs for the vacant WBC Asia Continental Super Bantam title.

The clash is a difficult ten-chapter mission for both warriors. More rough for Alvin Medura who comes from back to back loses in the land of Fighting Harada.

This is without a doubt the golden chance for Medura to get back with flying colors into the winning circle. Will he make it? Not an easy mission. But not impossible one.

Promoter Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde has given to his boxers very tough assignments against dangerous Japanese combatants, making fans wonder if Omayao and Medura will pull it off. You don't want to miss this show.

MORE EXCITING FIGHTS FOR ELORDE'S NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS XVII

In another international clash, tough-as-nails, well-trained Zamboangue?o GBO Champion Cris Alfante (16-7-1, 8 KO's) of the Elorde Gym and fearless 30-year-old Indonesian warrior Sulistyono "Sulis Barrera" both scaled-in at 115 pounds. Their duel is an 8-chapter battle in the hot super flyweight division.

Moreover, WBC Asia Continental Bantamweight champion Jun Blazo (12-6-3, 8 KO's) of the Elorde Stable and Indonesian Dion Arema both made 118 lbs ahead of their crucial eight-rounder melee. Blazo can not afford any mistake in his skirmish against Arema as Indonesians are known to be brave boxers.

MORE WEIGHTS FOR ELORDE'S NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS

Also, tough super lightweight Bryan Macamay made 140 pounds while Leonardo Doronio came-in one pound heavier at 141 lbs for their 6-round encounter that promises fireworks.

In another hot six-chapter saga, super featherweight Edison Berwela recorded 128 lbs, three pounds lighter than dangerous Zorren Pama who stepped-in at 131 pounds. The fight is a good to go.

Moreover, Romel Oliveros stopped the needle at 119 lbs while the laser-focused Remon Basas registered 118 pounds. Their six-stanza battle might not make the distance.

Whats more, Romeo Tenorio and Pit Ana made identical weight of 119 pounds for their six-round war.

Argie Guiriba and Zandy Padiran both scaled-in at 106 lbs ahead of their hot total-action 6-chapter duel.

Futhermore, Ramcie Mondala and Darwin Boyones weighed-in at 105 pounds for their six-chapter melee in the minimumweight division.

In one of the preliminary bouts of the entertaining show, Mac Pescador made 114 lbs while Marklim Itim obtained 115 pounds. The Pescador vs Itim clash is a four-rounder saga in the fast super flyweight division.

Elorde's Gym Matchmaker Patric Pepito Pante has lined-up even more thrilling clashes, aiming at thrilling fans to the maximum level.

The weigh-in ceremony Friday afternoon was supervised by veteran man of boxing Antonio "Tony" Comia of the Games an Amusement Board (GAB).

Night of Champions XVIII today Satruday, August 3, is a production of award-winning promoter Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde Jr., in association with the Naris Singwancha Foundation, Black Mamba Energy Drink Guarana, PAGCOR; and the cooperation of Hon. Pol Casale of Barangay Punong.
