Creation of Philippines Boxing & Contact Sports Commission: Senator Manny Pacquiao's Speech to Senate
PhilBoxing.com Thu, 25 Jul 2019

[The speech of Senator Manny Pacquiao was in response to Senate Resolution No. 3. The original speech included parts in Tagalog. Below is the translation in English]
Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you, fellow senators and Senate family. Thank you very much for your salutation. I also congratulate your leadership on the smooth opening of the 18th Congress.
I offer my God and people my victory over Thurman. Thank you for all your love and support.
At 40 years old, I can still fight someone who is 10 years younger than me. I can still give a good fight and entertain the fans. The abilities and skills that I have are from the Lord. I continue my boxing career for a purpose: to inspire our people to rise above their limitations and overcome their circumstances.
Many say that no one else can be Manny Pacquiao. But I believe there are still more good boxers looking for the right opportunity.

Mr. President, it is high time for us to invest on our boxing talents who are loaded with potentials. The so-called diamonds in the rough can just be around the corner. I urge you to pass the Philippine Boxing and Combat Sports Commission to the 18th Congress.
With our all-out support to the creation of the commission, Philippines can be the Boxing and Combat Sports Capital of Asia and beyond.
Mr. President, BOXING is my passion and PUBLIC SERVICE is my mission. I am ready to work with all of you in overcoming the challenges in the 18th Congress.
Together, as champions of the Filipino people, we will emerge victorious. The fight continues for the people!
Thank you very much!"
