Omega Boxing Gym Rising Stars MacMac Vicelles and Tarzan Ponciano Set for Action August in Cebu By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 07 Jun 2019 Mark Vicelles. CEBU CITY -- Omega Boxing Gym rising stars Mark "MacMac" Vicelles and "Tarzan" Ponciano Remandiman are slated to return to boxing action on Saturday, July 6, at Liloan Gym here in the Queen City of the South, Cebu, and fight fans can't wait! The two southpaws come from hard-fought victories last April at Parkmall Mandaue, wanting more wins added to their records. That evening at Parkmall, the unbeaten light flyweight MacMac Vicelles (10-0-1, 5 KO's) claimed a difficult, bloody stoppage round five win over tough Mindanao warrior Robert Onggocan (12-5, 8 KO's); while stablemate super flyweight Tarzan Ponciano edged Negros combatant Renz Rosia (14-8-1, 7 KO's) for a majority decision triumph. Not easy wins. But Vicelles and Ponciano emerged from victorious. So what is next? Ponciano Rimandiman WHO ARE THEIR OPPONENTS? Next, MacMac Vicelles, 23, steps up in class to fight more experienced 26-year-old current double world-ranked WBC #14, IBF #15 Jese Espinas (19-2, 11 KO's) of Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental. The mission is a tough one. But its also MacMac Vicelles' golden chance to break into the world rankings. Will he seize the day? In the same evening, his Omega Gym teammate "Tarzan" Ponciano Remandiman (10-4-1, 5 KO's) wages war against laser-focused, hard-hitting Masbate?o Prince Andrew Laurio (10-2-1, 7 KO's). This one is another good rumble for both Tarzan Ponciano, 22, and Prince Laurio, 20. Very evenly matched. The Omega fighter Tarzan Ponciano has a couple more losses than Prince Laurio in his resume, as well as fewer knockouts. Still, the fight is a good match, impossible to predict, a delight for betting fans. (not me) In short, the Vicelles and Ponciano fights are confirmed. They are tough battles that will test the skills and heart of the Omega fighters. "Yes, we want those kinds of fights.. good, tough, thrilling fights," says veteran Cebuano man of boxing Jerome Calatrava, vice president of the Omega Boxing Gym. "Difficult missions we want... for our boxers to get better, stronger. Overcoming high hurdles in life is rewarding, and it's the way to reach dreams and achieve glory. It all depends on discipline, commitment, and the spirit put into boxing." Light Flyweight Mark "MacMac" Vicelles, super flyweight "Tarzan" Ponciano and the other Omega fighters train for their battles at the Omega Boxing Gym facility in Cebu, guided by 33-year-old head coach Julius Erving Junco.
