SPORTS ROUNDUP 1: MEXICAN FANS WANT GGG TO KO CANELO SAYS PROMOTER

PhilBoxing.com

Tom Loeffler, promoter of WBC, WBA, and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs), hopes to see a lot more action in the coming rematch with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs). They will collide again on September 15th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. When the fighters clashed last September 2017, the match ended in a controversial twelve round split draw.

"Not only as a promoter but as a boxing fight, this is the fight everyone is looking forward to. This is the fight the fans are looking forward to, that the media has been asking about," Loeffler was quoted by Boxing Scene.

He said GGG get a lot of comments and a lot of messages on social media from fans in Mexico saying, "please knock out Canelo, don't let it in the judges' hands this time and GGG is going to come out that way."

Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez told ESPN that the money is deposited in an escrow account to be paid after the fight and that Matthysse and his team will fly Tuesday from Los Angeles to Kuala Lumpur for the fight.
"The fight's a go. There were some bumps in the road but everything is now in order and we're excited. It's a great opportunity for Lucas," Gomez said. "This is his dream fight. It's the fight he's been talking about for five years now. Anytime you can fight a legend like Manny Pacquiao it's a win."

The Fight of Champions will take place on July 15 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. It has four championship fights:

Champion Lucas Matthysse vs. Manny Pacquiao for the WBA "regular" welterweight title
Jhack Tepora vs. Edivaldo Ortega for the vacant WBA "regular" featherweight title
Moruti Mthalane vs. Muhammad Waseem for the vacant IBF flyweight title
Champion Carlos Canizales vs. Bin Lu for the WBA "regular" light flyweight title

Kawhi Leonard is the most important player in the NBA trade market presently. The 2014 NBA Finals MVP has soured his relationship with the San Antonio Spurs. He prefers to be traded to Los Angeles, the city of his birth, either with the Lakers or Clippers.

And now that LeBron James has accepted the Lakers' four-year $154 million deal, Leonard?s preference for the Lakers has become more evident. On ?The Woj Pod,? ESPN?s Adrian Wojnarowski said that "Leonard is not as interested in going to the Clippers now that James is with the Lakers," declared Lakers Nation's Trevor Lane.
