PAGARA CONTINUES ROAD TO REDEMPTION IN PINOY PRIDE 44

PhilBoxing.com

Prince Albert Pagara's road to redemption continues as he headlines Pinoy Pride 44 which will be held in his birthplace Maasin City, Southern Leyte on June 9, 2018 at the Maasin City Gym. He faces Ghana?s Laryea Gabriel Odoi for the WBO intercontinental superbantamweight championship, the title taken away from him by Mexico's Cesar Juarez, who handed him his first defeat in boxing.

"We are proud to be staging another Pinoy Pride provincial tour which was a tremendous success in Bohol last November 2017 and now we will be doing it again but this time at the hometown of Prince Albert Pagara in Maasin City," says ALA Promotions President/CEO Michael Aldeguer.

Last year, Pagara stopped Tanzania's Mohammed Kambuluta by KO in the second round and Thailand's Aekkawee Kaewmanee by fourth round KO. Two years ago after the loss to Juarez, he decisioned Ghana's Raymond Commey.

He won the WBO intercontinental title belt when he KO'd Nicaragua's William Gonzalez in October 2015. He defended it against another Nicaraguan Yesner Talavera by unanimous decision.

The young Pagara also won the IBF intercontinental superbantamweight title belt by first round demolition of Mexico's Hugo Partida. Then he defended it against another three Mexicans, Raul Hirales by 12-round unanimous decision, Rofolfo Hernandez by 4th-round retirement, and Jesus Antonio Rios by 1st-round TKO.

Pagara has since amassed 29 wins, a single loss, no draw, and has fought a 143 rounds with a 67% KO rate.

Pagara?s foe, the 27-year old Odoi, has an impressive 20-3-2 professional record, with 14 wins by KO. The Accra native is also rolling on a four-fight winning streak, with all but one accomplished by TKO. He has fought a total of 159 rounds and a KO rate of 56%.

He won over Billy Quaye by 7th-round TKO, Felix Uzukwu by unanimous decision, Saidu Amadu by 3rd-round TKO, and Raymond Ansah by TKO, all of them are fellow Ghanaians.

"Prince Albert Pagara is one of the most exciting and charismatic fighters from the Philippines, his only loss made him more mature that would definitely make him a better fighter as he regains his place in the Boxing World," added Aldeguer.
