OKC Thunder Quickly Grabs League Lead; Competition Performing Per Formchart By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Tue, 11 Nov 2025 ![]() As expected, OKC Thunder lost no time in reasserting their mastery while the rest of the competition, except for a few, has been performing according to pre-season expectations. The Thunder returned with basically the same core that won Oklahoma the NBA 2024-25 season championship and reeled off nine straight victories before getting upset on the road by the Portland Trailblazers. Last season MVP Shai Gilgeous Alexander has been churning out MVP numbers but he may be missing his partner Jalen Williams particularly at crunch time as seen in the lone loss in the stretch. German center Isaiah Hertenstein has been helping the team out, even leading the scoring in one of the games. But erstwhile team regular center Chet Holmgren seems to still get to his top playing form. Be that as it may, OKC has won again to lead the league at 10-1. Former also ran San Antonio Spurs continues to surprise by holding into second place at 7-2 in tie with the Denver Nuggets followed by the Los Angeles Lakers at 7-3. However the Houston Rockets which have been seeded #2 with their acquisition of the sharpshooting utility big man Kevin Durant are just fifth at 6-3 towing the Minnesota Timberwolves who are at sixth at 6-4 . Rounding up the top eight in the West so far are the Portland Trailblazers (5-4) in virtual tie with the Golden State Warriors at 6-5. Conspicuously missing at top eight are the Los Angeles Clippers who are only 12th at 3-6 and the revamped Dallas Mavericks, second to last thus far at 3-7. Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons kept top position at 8-2. Breathing down at their necks are pre-season #4 Cleveland Cavaliers at 7-2 and pre-season #3 seeds New York Knicks at 6-3 in tie with former season starter East leaders, the Chicago Bulls. Not far behind are the Miami Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks and the resurgent Philadelphia 76ers, all tied up at 6-4. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Teodoro Medina Reynoso. |
