WEIGHTS FROM L.A.: LINARES - 135 LBS., GESTA - 134.8 LBS.

Jorge Linares of Tokyo, Japan via Barinas, Venezuela stepped the scales at the lightweight limit of 135 lbs while Mercito Gesta of San Diego, California via Mandaue City, Philippines came in at 134.8 lbs during the official weighin held in Los Angeles, CA Friday afternoon. Linares (43-3-0, 27KOs) will defend his WBA world lightweight title against Gesta (31-1-2, 17KOs) Saturday night (Sunday morning in Manila) at The Forum in Los Angeles. This will be Linares's 4th defense of the title he won from Anthony Crolla on Sep. 24, 2016. Linares previously held the WBC world lightweight title. Gesta will attempt to win a world title for the second time in his career after he lost in his first attempt against Miguel Vazquez on Dec. 8, 2012 in Las Vegas.
