WBC president Jose Sulaiman says its high time that Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao fights for the super featherweight title currently held by Mexico?s Juan Manuel Marquez.

In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today, Sulaiman emphasized ?its time for him to look forward to victory and the title and not only fight for the money.?

Sulaiman said ?history will not remember the fights that were not for the belt because as time goes by you will only read who was the champion and all those things.?

The WBC president stressed ?I believe this is time that Pacquiao decides to fight for the title and get over that draw he had with Marquez.? In their May 8, 2004 clash, Pacquiao dropped Marquez three times in the opening round but the Mexican counter-punched beautifully in the succeeding rounds to force a draw.

Sulaiman said that during the WBC convention in Manila this November they will ?discuss and appoint Pacquiao as the official challenger and mandate that the next fight will be for the WBC title.?

However, Sulaiman indicated everything will depend on the outcome of Marquez? title defense against challenger Rocky Juarez on November 3 in a fight card to be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN over its pre-eminent Channel 2.
