PhilBoxing.com

Go Hosaka.

Young, Filipino-Japanese amateur champion Go Hosaka signed a long-term deal with ALA Promotions, as he moves forward from his amateur achievements and turns pro just before the end of 2017.

At 21, Hosaka boasts an amateur record of 65 fights (55-10) in the amateur lightweight division.

Born to a Filipino mother and Japanese father, he was raised in Kurume City located in Fukuoka Perfecture, Japan. He grew up initially showing interest in Karate. Hosaka was only 4 years old when he would watch his father, who was a teacher (Shihan), and try to imitate his moves.

At present, Hosaka holds a black belt in Karate.

He started his amateur boxing career when he was 14 years old and was in his second year in Mizuma Junior High.

In 2014, he participated and impressively won in separate international boxing championships in Thailand, Bulgaria, and China. He was a bronze medalist for both Asian Boxing Championship in Thailand and AIBA Youth World Boxing Championship in Bulgaria, while he placed fourth during the Summer Youth Olympics held in Nanjing, China.

In August of the same year, he became Japan?s National Boxing Tournament Champion, winning gold during the competition.

?He is what we are looking for; he has an outstanding amateur record, and shows a lot of promise,? said ALA Promotions Matchmaker, Edito Villamor.

Hosaka disclosed he is excited in this new career move. Known ALA fighters like world champions Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes and Milan ?El Metodico? Melindo growing in their boxing careers have pushed him to sign with the promotional outfit.

?I see a lot of strong fighters from ALA, and I hope to become one of them. Boxing is my passion and one day I want to be a formidable world champion like my idols Manny Pacquiao and Vasyl Lomachenko. My family and I believe I could achieve my goals through ALA,? he shared.

?It has always been ALA Promotions? thrust to elevate Philippine Boxing through showcasing local talent in the international stage, and we want to continue doing just that, help these young talents reach their dreams,? ALA Promotions President/CEO Michael Aldeguer said.

Earlier this year, the Cebu-based promotional organization also signed up Cebuano amateur standout Junrel Jimenez.
