DANCER PRETTY BOY FLOYD MAYWEATHER AVOIDS 1ST ROUND KNOCKOUT By Rod Mijares PhilBoxing.com Fri, 28 Sep 2007 It was not a pretty sight looking at Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather anxiously waiting for a relief or a knockout punch that will have him and his partner, Karina Smirnoff, leaving the show ?Dancing With The Stars? for life. The reality show, Dancing With The Stars, returns for its fifth season boasting of twelve new celebrities from a world boxing champion pound for pound, Spice Girl, Cheetah Girl, day time soap opera actor, singer, actresses, newscaster, model, Indy 500 champion, Vegas icon and a billionaire. Each one of them will try to outdo each other and dance their way into the championship in a very hectic and vigorous weekly private training with their partner with choreography that changes every week and public performance in front of millions of viewers which airs on ABC every Monday beginning September 24 at prime time. The pretty boy Floyd Mayweather the champ could dance. He showed he is a very energetic and could dance with the music with rhythm and poise. He throws his feet, hip and body here and there, instead of, throwing his arms and punches in front of him. His feet strutting into the music of cha-cha-cha, instead of, imitating Muhammed Ali?s famous footwork. Wednesday night came for the moment of truth that he and the others dreaded. This is one fight that he has no control. Although, Dancing With The Stars boast of the same number of 3 judges, their scores are combined with the votes of millions of viewers that tune to the show Tuesday night. The three judges are well known Ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. Although, he shows promise of a great dancer that might add to his cap as the best pound for pound boxer in the world if he wins, the judges were not so impressed with his performance during the first round of the competition. Floyd and his partner, Karina Smirnoff, got scores of 6-6-6 for a total of 18 from the three judges as compared to 7-7-7 for a total of 21 for the billionaire, Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks NBA basketball team and who is partnered with the beautiful dancer Kym Johnson. As such, the anxiety and the doubt but to his relief they were voted to stay for another week of challenge. As Floyd said, he will continue practicing how to dance while continue practicing for his championship fight with Ricky Hatton on December 8, 2007 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The question is, will he dance both his way to the boxing championship at the same time dance his way to the Dancing With The Stars championship? Our very own Filipino-American Cheryl Burke, the 2004 and 2005 back to back champion is partnered this time with The Legend, Mr. Las Vegas, Wayne Newton. They barely made it to the second round, thanks to the millions of fans of Mr. Las Vegas who voted for their idol.
