JASON CANOY IN SOUTH AFRICA, DAY 2 NOTES
PhilBoxing.com Wed, 29 Mar 2017
 Jason Canoy.
Day 2 Notes ? March 28, 2017
In our chat with South African boxing enthusiasts, Jason Canoy?s chances of winning will depend on his being able to turn the fight into a brawl, hurting Magwaca and not have Magwaca apply and stick-and-run strategy.
Magwaca is known to be a technical boxer who prefers to box and not mix it up. He is expected to fight from a distance and play the role of a boxer. They said Magawaca is a technically gifted and talented boxer.
Their advice is that Jason's only chance to win is to engage Magwaca in a brawl since Magwaca is expected to box from a distance and play the boxer's role. If Jason can cut the distance and turn this into a fistfight, he has better chances to win.
WBF President Howard Golberg assured that the WBF judges will be fair. ?I told them that there is no South African or Filipino on the ring on fight night. Both are deserving boxers fighting for the WBF championship.? All judges are from South Africa.
Other Notes:
Manny Pacquiao?s popularity: The gym supervisor immediately asked about Manny Pacquiao when he found out that Jason Canoy was a Filipino.
Canoy worked out at the hotel gym and is on track to make the weight of 118 pounds.
Former heavyweight champion Francois Botha ?The White Buffalo? will fight in an exhibition bout to raise funds for the local community.
The other main event is the championship fight for the women?s WBF bantamweight championshio between Bukiwe Nonina (10-3-1) of South Africa and Alesia Graf (29-5-0) of Germany. -- Rico Navarro.
