Sonsona brothers want to impress hometown fans PhilBoxing.com Fri, 10 Feb 2017 ![]() Eden (L) and Lito Sonsona. The Sonsona brothers Eden and Lolito of General Santos City both vowed to continue the success story of their cousin and former WBO World super flyweight champion Marvin ?Marvelous? Sonsona as they are both seeing action again on the ring infront of their hometown fans on February 26 at 5 p.m. at the Lagao Gym. Eden, a former WBC International Silver super featherweight champion, is facing Jovany Rota for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International super featherweight crown in one of the four title-fights dubbed as the ?Laban Pinoy 3: Rise of Champions? boxing show by the Sanman Promotions and Solar Sports. It will be Eden?s second comeback fight since he went into a 18 month break after he won the WBC International Silver super featherweight title via a 2nd round technical knockout against Mexican Adrian Estrella in Mexico last May 16, 2015. Eden joined Sanman promotions late last year and successfully made a comeback by scoring a majority decision against Jaime Barcelona last December 4 at the Robinsons? Gensan. ?I?m expecting a better Eden now in his second fight. He is doing better in the gym compared to his first fight,? said Jim Claude Manangquil, CEO of Sanman Promotions. Manangquil said that he has a ?big trust of Eden?s capability.? ?I heard a lot of bad stories about him but I gave him a chance to prove himself. He promised he will change and be a world champion,? bared Manangquil. Eden went to Sanman Gym last November to start training again. He has lost already 10 pounds and now weighs 136 lbs. ?I will be world champion very soon. I can beat all these 126 to 130 lbs world champions,? said Eden. ?Look what I did to undefeated Mexican Adrian Estrella. I will do that to the reigning world champions if given a chance,? added Eden, who has a record of 35 wins with 12 knockouts against 6 losses and 2 draws. His younger brother Lolito (20W-1L-4D-9 KOs) will be fighting against former Philippine light flyweight champion Renren Tesorio (16W-9L-3D-4KOs) of Palawan for the vacant WBF Asia Pacific super flyweight title for 12 rounds. Lolito is managed by Jason Soong and trains with his brother Eden in Sanman gym. He fought and won via a 4th round TKO over Jetly Purisima under Sanman promotions card last Dec. 4 at Robinson?s Gensan. ?We are going to continue the success of Sonsona in boxing. Me and my brother Eden will be world champions,? said Lolito. The Laban Pinoy 3: Rise of Champions will also feature two other regional title fights as part of the annual Kalilangan Festival celebration by the city government of Gensan. It is also sponsored by Mt. Sabrina Resort, Barberlife and Amoy Promotions. It will be covered by Solar Sports. Admission is free to the public. ![]() |
