KRIS GEORGE VOWS TO KNOCK OUT CAMERON HAMMOND

PhilBoxing.com

HAMMOND AND GEORGE LIGHT THE FUSE FOR EXPLOSIVE NOV 25 SHOWDOWN.
History on the Darling Downs - The Commonwealth title is coming to the Garden City

KRIS GEORGE HAS VOWED TO KNOCK OUT CAMERON HAMMOND ON NOVEMBER 25 AND IN RETURN HAMMOND HAS LAUGHED IT OFF. The stage is set for an explosive encounter between the two classy welterweights in Toowoomba on November 25 when they clash for the Commonwealth Title.

"I've fought two undefeated fighters before in the pro's, both very credentialed amateurs, and I knocked them both out in the third round.

"You can't predict anything but I'm supremely confident I can win, twelve round fights are a big mental game and that's where I think I have the edge."

In response Hammond said with a smile "He can say all he wants, I'm going to let my punches do the talking on the night, I don't have much to say about that.

"I'm fit, I'm ready for twelve hard rounds I'm coming to win, by knock out possibly, we'll see on the night." Hammond said.

It promises to be one of the fights of the year for 2016. Hammond is a Sydney Olympian and 16-0 as a pro. He's won WBA regional titles and is promoted by England's Ricky Hatton.

Kris George is 11-1, also a WBA regional title holder and a former Queensland champion.

"This is history," Promoter Brendon Smith said.

"Never before has a Commonwealth title be contested in Toowoomba and its around thirty years since a Commonwealth title has been contested in Queensland.

"It's one of the most prestigious belts in World boxing.

"A perfect example of his status is Lucas Browne, Browne won the Commonwealth title and that earned him a World title shot.

"That's what is at stake for Kris and Cameron.

"And the best thing about it, it's all going to happen right here in Toowoomba in front of our loyal fans."

There is no love lost between the pair. The mind games have already begun.

"Anyone who saw them both in the ring on the weekend at our show TGW & Smithy Brings the Big fights 14 would know this is going to be a hell of a fight," Smith said.

"There is definitely respect there but at the same time there is no love lost.

"When Cameron spoke on the microphone Kris didn't take his eyes off him and it was the same when Kris spoke, Cameron glared at him.

"Not only is this a super fight because of both boys credentials but also styles make fights.

"It's the classic boxer vs the puncher.

"Cameron Hammond is arguably the neatest boxer in this country and Kris George is arguably pound for pound the biggest puncher in the country.

"Put them together and it'll be a great spectacle for the crowd.

"It's been around 30 to 40 years since two Australians fought for a Commonwealth title in Queensland.

"The Toowoomba fans deserve this fight.

"This is huge for our region and our country."

Kris George vs Cameron Hammond headlines a classy card for November 25.
The other feature bout is between undefeated duo Brent Rice and Matt Casboult for the Australian super featherweight title.

The card also will showcase some of Queensland's best amateurs who will fight in the City vs Country Brayd Smith Cup.

As well as select corporate celebrity bouts to raise funds and awareness for the TGW Campaign to Bring a neurosurgeon to Toowoomba.

Leading Gold Coast lawyers Campbell MacCallum and Jeff Horsey are confirmed for one bout.

World class fisherman Carl Jocumsen will also fight on the card.

While Hutchinson Builders trio Nick Barker, Steve Wyatt and Dave Ozzigovic will take on another local business in a three on three tag team bout.
