NEW MAIN EVENT FOR TGW & SMITHY BRING THE BIG FIGHTS 14

PhilBoxing.com

Brent Rice ruled out with Influenza A.

Promoter Brendon Smith has elevated the Australian heavyweight title eliminator between Herman Ene-Purcell and Justin Whitehead to the main event following the forced postponement of Brent Rice vs Matt Casboult due to illness.

"On medical advice Brent Rice has been ruled unfit to box on the 22nd of October, " Brendon Smith said.

"Brent has been bed ridden with influenza A and despite his best efforts to be ready by fight night he will not be physically capable of fighting.

"Doctors orders are doctors orders and we will be adhering to them.

"Whilst it is disappointing for both Brent and Matt, both have agreed to postpone the bout to our November 25 card headlined by the Commonwealth title between Kris George and Cameron Hammond.

"That news shows how much this title means to both boys.

"For our October twenty two show we are in the fortunate position we have three other worthy of main event calibre bouts. Our two state titles and the Australian title eliminator.

"We've decided to make Herman Ene-Purcell vs Justin Whitehead the main as its an eliminator for the biggest domestic title in Australia.

"The winner has the opportunity to progress to an Australian title shot."

The Ene-Purcell vs Whitehead bout will be proceeded by the two State title matches. Jamie Hilt meets Apichat Koedchatturat for the Queensland welterweight belt and Steven Spark faces Mark Ramirez for the super lightweight belt.

"As well as the three big title fights we also have Aaron Phillips stepping in for his second pro bout against Salar King," Smith said.

"Aaron made a huge impression on our last show and I know plenty of fans are keen to see him fight again.

"We also have a great four rounder between Mel Baker and Monthida Rattanachai which is sure to emotion charged with Mel fighting in honour of Blaze Alexander.

"There will also be huge entertainment in our two charity bouts in aid of the family of seven year old Charlotte Grice who is fighting a brain tumour.

"Adrian Alloy Young vs Junior Bomber Richards and John Geigermeister Geiger vs Nick Iron Barker with both bring the house down.

"You will also see a host of up and comers in corporate bouts.

"It's another great card and I'm sure the crowd will see some great action."
