TREVINO ISSUES STATEMENT ON CONDES SITUATION PhilBoxing.com Fri, 24 Aug 2007 Philboxing.com is re-printing here the email message sent in by Cezar Trevino, who along with Bobby Bostick, has claimed promotional rights over IBF minimumweight champion Florante Condes. Read on: Greetings, I am happy, or should I say to some, I regret to inform you that after discussions with the Chairman, Eric Buhain, of the GAB, in regards to Florante Condes and his promoters and upcoming fights. He has notified us that GAB will support and honor our contracts as he had hoped that Aljoe Jaro would do after our meetings at the Boxing Commission Offices of the Philippines just recently. He will not honor what Aljoe Jaro and Rod Nazario are doing in regards to setting up a fight in the Philippines nor will we. As promoters we have an obligation to put our champion in fights according to his contract which is why we have set up his next fight in Mexico. We were already in negotiations before we flew to the Philippines and we were able to finalize them upon our return. We did agree to take into consideration a fight in the Philippines if not now, in the future, but have not been contacted by anyone in that regard. I specifically told Aljoe in order to start negotiating a fight in the Philippines, for him to put me in contact with whom ever necessary asap to start negotiating and I have not heard from anyone at all at this point. Two days after my return back to America, before I could even adjust back to the time change Aljoe had taken it upon himself along with Rod Nazario to call themselves the promoters and to start negotiating in the Philippines without our involvement. I was shocked and so were many other people. Mr. Buhain (Chairman of GAB) and the boxing commission will not stand for this and neither will we. We believe that it is sad that after three days of heated discussions and having Aljoe and his Attorney, Mendoza, agree to honor our contracts and quote that "Rod Nazario has nothing to do with Condes" in front of everyone at the Boxing Commission, that they proceed to do as they wish and disrespect us, the Boxing Commission, Mr. Chairman, and everyone involved including Condes. This is a part of boxing that gives it a black eye. I am not proud to be involved in what I am calling a scam to promote and make money with something that does not belong to you. Mr. Chairman has expressed that he is very disappointed in the representation of Aloe Jaro after concluding during our visit in front of everyone that we are the only ones able to negotiate and promote fights on behalf of Florante Condes. He has also agreed to make a voluntary statement upon request on behalf of our discussions and what has conspired and what he will be obligated to do because of the actions of Mr. Aljoe Jaro and Rod Nazario. I myself am very disappointed in what has occurred and only hope that as we move forward, Florante Condes continues his career as a champion and gains confidence that we will always do what we feel is right as Promoters for the long term future of himself and other future Filipino boxers. |
