Toshihiko Era Becomes WBF Asia Champion at Age 50
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Mon, 23 Jun 2025

BANGKOK, Thailand — In a remarkable achievement, veteran Japanese fighter Toshihiko Era (恵良敏彦) from Osaka has become the oldest boxer to claim an Asian boxing championship.
At 50 years old, Era showcased his determination and skill, stopping Komkrich Nantapech of Thailand to secure the WBF (World Boxing Foundation) Asia Flyweight Title in Bangkok.
🥊 The Fight
After a competitive first round, Era (26-4-1, 21 KOs) took control, landing precise combinations and pinning Nantapech against the ropes.
The fight was stopped at the beginning of the fourth round when Nantapech's corner refused to continue, sealing Era's impressive victory.
The bout was refereed by Kris Sanyadej of Bangkok, with Alvin S. Go of Cavite, Philippines, serving as the WBF (World Boxing Foundation) supervisor.
🥊 Putting It into Perspective
At an age when most athletes have retired, Toshihiko Era proves that age is just a number.
His victory is a testament to the power of faith, healthy living, and determination.
Era's achievement is notable, especially when compared to other boxing legends.
While George Foreman won the heavyweight world title at 45, and Bernard Hopkins claimed the IBF light heavyweight title at 49, Era has become the oldest boxer to win an Asian championship at 50.
🥊 Congratulations
Heartfelt congratulations to Toshihiko Era on this remarkable achievement!
His victory is an inspiration to boxers and fans worldwide, demonstrating that with dedication and perseverance, age is not a barrier to success. 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵👍👍👍🥊🥊🥊
