NUMBER ONE WBC RANKED SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT "RELENTLESS" ANTONIO OROZCO RE-SIGNS A MULTI-YEAR PROMOTIONAL CONTRACT WITH GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS

PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES (July 11, 2016) - Having taken the 140-pound division by storm, the WBC's number one-ranked super lightweight "Relentless" Antonio Orozco (24-0, 16 KOs) will continue to pursue a world championship title as a Golden Boy Promotions fighter, retaining the Los Angeles-based company founded by Oscar De La Hoya as his promoter. Orozco's multi-year agreement comes ahead of his July 30 fight where he will headline the HBO Latino card against Abner "Jaeger" Lopez (25-5, 19 KOs) at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.

"Since I was a child I always dreamed to be part of Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions," said Antonio Orozco. "This is where I started my career and this is where I would like to finish. I am at my prime, and re-signing with Golden Boy represents the second chapter of my career of become a world champion."

"Antonio Orozco is one of the best fighters in our stable at Golden Boy Promotions, and with his natural talent, skill and strong work ethic, he is poised to become a world champion in this sport, without a doubt," said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. "I'm proud Antonio chose to stay with the Golden Boy family, and I'm excited to see him conquer the division and rise to the top of the sport."

"I look for great things for Antonio Orozco, we started with Golden Boy and this is where we want to finish," said Frank "Derecho" Espinoza, manager of Antonio Orozco. "We enjoy being part of the Golden Boy family and with their help we know we will get to the next level and fight for a world title."

Unbeaten as a professional, San Diego's Antonio Orozco has paid his dues on the way to the top, and now his only intention is to get the shot at a world championship that he's craved. Rated as number one by the WBC, and rated in the top 10 by all sanctioning bodies in the super lightweight division, Orozco is ready for the next chapter of his career as a world champion. Winner of the NABF junior super lightweight title in 2014, the 28-year-old has since defeated former world champions Humberto "La Zorrita" Soto and Steve "2Pound" Forbes, and hot prospect Emmanuel "Tranzformer" Taylor. In his most recent bout on March 25, 2015, Orozco made another statement with a first round knockout of Miguel "Aguacerito" Acosta that thrilled the fans at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
