Abraham Alvarez hopes for a knockout win against Jason Pagara
PhilBoxing.com Thu, 07 Jul 2016

San Francisco - Former Mexican Super Lightweight Champion Abraham "The Swift" Alvarez, together with manager Luis Zapari, arrived in the city late last night (photo) confident of getting into the ring with WBO #1 and WBO International Jr. Welterweight champion Jason "El Ni?o" Pagara on July 9 at the San Mateo Event Center for ALA Promotions' "Fists of the Future".
Below is the Q & A on Alvarez:
Have you seen tapes of Jason Pagara fighting?
Yes, I've seen a few tapes of him fighting on the internet.
How do you see him as a fighter?
- I think he's a strong fighter, he's aggressive, and he gives a good fight.
So how did you train for this fight, seeing your rival as someone who is aggressive?
- I'll try to use my jab and move around. I'll focus on my power and body punches and my hook. I think he cannot block so many punches. He has a good defense, but I think if I'm quick enough, I will be able to hit him a lot.
Are you seeing a knockout this Saturday?
- I'm hoping for me. My training has been great, so I really think I can win this fight.
Both fighters will meet during the fight's Official Press Conference on July 7th at the San Mateo Event Pavillion at 11 a.m., before the scheduled Weigh-In on Friday, July 8th at Serramonte Mall in Daly City.
