Oliva, Mansito bow to Guevarra brothers
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Sun, 21 Feb 2016

FILIPINO boxers Jether ?The General? Oliva and Edward ?Nightmare? Mansito both bowed to the Mexican Guevarra brothers ? Pedro and Alberto by unanimous decisions in their separate fights held Saturday at the Lobo Dome in Mazatlan, Mexico.
But both Oliva and Mansito gave up a good fight against their Mexican rivals according to Oliva?s manager Jim Claude ?JC? Manangquil, chief executive officer of the Sanman Promotions.
The 28-year old Oliva of General Santos City also even almost downed the former world champion Pedro Guevarra in the fourth round.
?But Guevarra clearly won the fight. He staggered Oliva in the second round,? said Manangquil.
Guevarra, however, suffered a black eye and bruised on his right eye after the 10-round fight. He improved his record to 26 wins against 2 loses, 1 draw with 17 knockouts.
Oliva, reigning World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia Pacific flyweight champion suffered his 5th defeat against 23 wins, 2 draws with 11 KOs. It was his second outing in Mexico.
He also bowed to another Mexican Mexican Luis Nery via a 4th round knockout at the Centro De Convenciones in Rosarito, Baja California last Feb. 28.
Guevarra, 26, recently lost his World Boxing Council (WBC) world light flyweight title to Japanese Yu Kimura by a split decision last Nov. 28 at the Xebio Arena in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan.
Younger brother Alberto also dominated his fight against Mansito to score his 24th win against two loses.
Mansito of Iligan City dropped to 13-4-2 record.
The fights of the ?Honor and Glory? card were broadcasted throughout Mexico by Televisa Deportes. ? LITO DELOS REYES
