By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Wed, 03 Feb 2016
 Oliva.
Jether Oliva (23W-4L-1D, 11KO?s) of the Sanman Gym will be traveling to Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico to face former WBC light flyweight champ Pedro Guevara (26W-2L-1D,17KO?s) of Mexico this February 20.
Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil informed philboxing that they received an offer to fight Guevara last week.
?We took the offer, ?Manangquil stated, ?Oliva is great shape and
this (112lbs) is the perfect for weight for him. He has been in the Gym since first week of January. Oliva was preparing to be part of the undercard of Brawl at the Mall on February 13 against Fernando Ocon.?
The fight is scheduled for ten rounds.
The 28 year old Oliva lost last year in Mexico against Luis Neri
(RTD4) and also lost a decision in South Africa against Zolani Tete last December. In between those two fights he beat Ryan Ralozo by third round TKO in Lanao del Norte. Oliva is a former WBO Oriental minimumweight titlist and lost his lone world title shot against then IBF lt.flyweight champ Ulises Solis in 2011 by unanimous decision. Two years ago, Oliva also captured the WBF Asia Pacific flyweight title.
The 26 year old Guevara captured the vacant WBC light flyweight title in 2014 by knocking out Japanese Akira Yaegashi in seven rounds. He would lose in his third defense to another Japanese, Yu Kimura by split verdict last December.
Guevara lost to a Filipino in his first attempt at a world title when Johnriel Casimero, who in 2012 was the reigning IBF light flyweight champ, beat Guevara by split decision in Mazatlan.
