CONDES ZOOMS PAST WBC CHAMP IN RING RATINGS
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 13 Jul 2007

Newly-crowned IBF miniflyweight champion Florante 'The Little Pacquiao' Condes has just been installed by the prestigious Ring Magazine as the no. 3 best miniflyweight in the world following his hard-earned split decision victory over Muhammad Rachman last July 7 in Jakarta.
Condes edged out WBC champ Eagle Kyowa who is in fourth place, and Rachman, who tumbled down to no. 5 in the rankings.
WBO champ Ivan Calderon is the no. 1 minifly, followed by no. 2 Yutaka Niida, who holds the WBA title.
With Calderon now planning to move up in weight, a battle between Condes and Niida will most likely produce the new Ring Magazine and Peoples Champion in the 105-lb division.
The Ring 105-lb title remains vacant, and will be filled up only when its top contenders decide to fight each other for the recognition.
However, according to Aljoe Jaro, Condes' next fight will most likely be a rematch with Rachman in Indonesia, given that the promoters can raise Condes' asking price of $150,000 for his initial defense.
Otherwise, Jaro stated, the plan is to put Condes in a choice defense in the Philippines possibly against a Panamanian.
A group is reportedly ready to shell out the necessary funds to put up a fight for Condes' title defense in the country, Jaro stated.
Condes will take a 15-day break to take care of his ailing mother Juanita, and will then return to the gym to keep himself in shape for his next fight.
The fighter and his manager are planning to hold a victory party on Sunday, where they will invite all boxers for a get-together.
